Beaded ring earrings

Beaded ring earrings

Yay, I made some earrings!  These are based on the instructions given for the toggle clasp for the ‘Stitch a little, string a lot’ project in the August edition of Bead and Button.  The beads I used came from my own shop: size 8/0 seed beads in silver lined gold and size 11/0 in rainbow peach.  These are bigger than the size recommended in B&B but I didn’t have any size 15/0s.  I also adjusted the number of beads in the initial ring so that they would be the right size for earrings.

This pattern was fun to make and I think there is scope for enlarging the scheme to make bangles and it certainly would make a fantastic toggle clasp.  I chose golden colours as I don’t have any earrings in this shade.  Usually I go for silver ear hooks and use blues, greens and purples.  However I have two summer tops in peachy/orange colours and I needed something to go with them.  Both of these tops were thrifty finds.  One is pale peach with peachy roses and smocked detail and the second top you can see here on my other blog: http://www.daisydecor.co.uk/blog/vintage-oxfam-and-a-cute-top/

Funky felt fantasy flower brooch

The earrings have not yet materialised - I am having a bit of an inspiration slump!  However I have made this felt flower brooch:

The centre is filled with stuffing to add a 3D quality and the whole flower is hand stitched.  In reality the pink is a bit brighter than in the photo but it is so hard to get a true likeness with some colours, red and pink in particular.
