:: Jewellery making pliers and their uses ::
This is my collection of jewellery making pliers. You can see that some of them look well used! I have provided an explanation of their uses and I hope you find this page useful.
:: Flat nose jewellery making pliers ::
Probably the most common type of jewellery making pliers, used for general gripping and opening and closing of jump rings.
:: Chain nose jewellery making pliers ::
The finer point of these jewellery making pliers allows for more delicate work. Also useful for creating ‘D’ shapes with wire.
:: Round nose jewellery making pliers ::
Round nose jewellery making pliers are mainly used for creating round loops of wire including jump rings.
:: Half round, half flat jewellery making pliers ::
Sometimes a pair of jewellery making pliers are needed that allow you to keep one part of your wire flat whilst rounding another. I find that these give a bit more control than plain round nose jewellery making pliers.
:: Nylon jaw jewellery making pliers ::
Nylon jaw jewellery making pliers serve two very useful purposes when working with wire. Firstly the protective coating on the jaw means that they do not mark the wire like other jewellery making pliers. Secondly they can be used for effectively straightening wire. An alternative to nylon jaw jewellery making pliers is a substance known as ‘tool magic’. This is basically a liquid rubber into which you dip your standard jewellery making pliers. It has much the same effect.
:: Crimping pliers ::

These jewellery making pliers are only used for finishing crimps. They have a specially shaped jaw that first squeezes the crimp and then crushes it into a rounded shape. They give a much neater and more secure finish than using plain flat nose jewellery making pliers.
:: Micro crimping jewellery making pliers ::

These jewellery making pliers are used for exactly the same purpose as the ordinary crimping plier except they are for the smallest variety of crimps.
:: Angled tweezers ::

Although not really jewellery making pliers I thought these belonged here. I find them indispensible for picking up small beads. The angled head is just right for the job.
